⚠️ TRAVEL WARNING:
Cumnor House Competition (Sunday 21/06)
Dear Parents,
Please read this message carefully if you are driving to Cumnor House Sussex for our competition this Sunday.
The London to Brighton Bike Ride is taking place on the same day. As a result, major rural roads directly between Crawley/Horsham and the school (including the B2028 corridor, Turners Hill, Ardingly, and the B2112) are completely closed to traffic by the West Sussex County Council.
DO NOT follow standard GPS/Sat-Nav apps. They will attempt to route you through closed barriers and gridlocked country lanes. You must use the designated primary A-road loops detailed below to bypass the event safely.
🗺️ Step-by-Step Driving Directions
🚗 Route 1: For Parents Driving from CRAWLEY
Step 1: Leave Crawley heading south on the A23 Southbound.
Step 2: Exit the A23 at the A272 junction (towards Bolney/Ansty/Haywards Heath).
Step 3: Follow the A272 Eastbound bypass route, passing completely south of Haywards Heath, all the way to North Chailey.
• Step 4: At the North Chailey roundabout, turn left (North) onto the A275 and follow it straight up into Danehill to reach Cumnor House.
🚙 Route 2: For Parents Driving from HORSHAM
Step 1: Leave Horsham taking the A272 Eastbound (heading through Cowfold).
Step 2: Continue straight across the A23 interchange, staying on the A272 Eastbound bypass along the south side of Haywards Heath.
Step 3: Follow the A272 Eastbound all the way to the North Chailey roundabout.
• • Step 4: At the North Chailey roundabout, turn left (North) onto the A275 and follow it straight up into Danehill to reach Cumnor House.
⏱️ Important Timing Advice
The competition starts at 2:00 PM.
While these two A-road routes are fully open and completely clear of physical event barriers, they will handle all diverted local traffic on Sunday. Please add an extra 20 minutes of buffer time to your journey to account for heavier congestion than usual.
Safe travels, and we look forward to a fantastic competition!
